... Heat advisory remains in effect from noon to 8 PM EDT
Thursday...

* temperatures... highs will be in the mid to upper 90s.

* Heat indices... 105 to 109 degrees.

* Impacts... the accumulative effects of the heat and humidity
will lead to an increased risk of heat related illnesses...
especially among vulnerable individuals such as the sick...
the elderly... those exerting themselves outdoors... and those
without air conditioning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that hot temperatures and high humidity
will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.
Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned room... stay
out of the sun... and check up on relatives and neighbors.

... A line of strong thunderstorms will affect portions of northern
Davidson and Forsyth counties until 915 PM EDT...

At 830 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
line of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near King to
7 miles north of Lexington... and moving east at 20 mph.

Hail up to the size of peas and wind gusts up to 40 mph will be
possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Winston-Salem... Lexington... Thomasville... Kernersville... Clemmons...
Lewisville... Walkertown... Rural Hall... Arcadia and Belews Creek.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Seek shelter in a nearby building or vehicle. Wind gusts as high as
40 mph are capable of knocking down tree limbs and blowing around
trash cans... potted plants... lawn furniture and other light outdoor
objects.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms... and may
lead to flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
