Expires 6:30 AM EDT on May 18, 2013

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued an

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
southern Calhoun County in east central Alabama... this includes
the cities of... west end... Cobb Town...
Saks... Oxford... Jacksonville... fort McClellan... Anniston...
northeastern Clay County in east central Alabama... Cleburne
County in east central Alabama...

northern Talladega County in east central Alabama...
this includes the city of Talladega...

* until 530 am CDT

* at 227 am CDT... very heavy rainfall was continuing to fall across
the advisory area... and additional training rainfall is expected to
cause ponding of water on roadways... localized flooding in poor
drainage areas... and small streams could overflow their banks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the
warned area... on top of 1 to 2 inches that has already fallen from
Friday evening.

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams... and ponding of water in urban areas...
highways... streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage
areas and low lying spots.
