The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
northeastern Pima County in southeastern Arizona...

* until 715 PM MST

* at 559 PM MST... Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm
capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess
of 60 mph. This storm was located over Tanque Verde... or 12 miles
east of Tucson... and moving west at 15 mph. In addition to the
strong and gusty winds and hail... expect blowing dust to accompany
this storm as well. Motorists should travel with caution if
encountering reduced visibilities due to blowing dust.

Tucson... Oro Valley... Marana... Sahuarita... flowing Wells...
Tanque Verde... Drexel-alvernon... Casas Adobes... Drexel Heights...
Tucson Estates... Littletown... Valencia West... Summit... tortolita...

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Severe thunderstorms produce damaging winds... large hail... deadly
lightning and very heavy rain. For your protection... seek shelter now
inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows. Heavy rains
flood roads quickly so do not drive into areas where water covers the
Road.

In addition to large hail and damaging winds... continuous cloud to
ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors
immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers.
Remember... if you can hear thunder... you are close enough to be
struck by lightning.

* Flash Flood Warning for...
central Pima County in southeastern Arizona...

* until 800 PM MST

* at 603 PM MST... Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm
producing very heavy rain across central Pima County including the
central Tohono Oodham Nation... especially to the northwest of
Sells.

Radar estimates that between 1.50 and 2.00 inches of rain has fallen
in this area that will result in flash flooding... especially in
pan... San Luis and Sikul Himatk washes.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Sells... Nolic and big fields.

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
southeastern Pinal County in southeastern Arizona...
northeastern Pima County in southeastern Arizona...

* until 730 PM MST

* at 528 PM MST... Doppler radar indicated severe thunderstorms with
very heavy rainfall rates generally to the east and south of
Tucson. Rainfall amounts of 0.75 and 1.25 inches will be
possible... with localized heavier amounts with the strongest
storms. This will result in running water in roadway
dips... normally dry washes and significant ponding of water in
low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Tucson... Green Valley... Sahuarita... Tanque Verde... Littletown...
Drexel-alvernon... San Manuel... Oracle... east Sahuarita... Summit...

Dust Storm Warning

... Dust Storm Warning in effect until 8 PM MST this evening...
... Blowing dust advisory no longer in effect...

The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a dust Storm
Warning... which is in effect until 8 PM MST this evening. This
replaces and upgrades the blowing dust advisory that was
previously in effect.

* Impacts... strong winds from a large area of thunderstorms will
push a wall of dust west and northwest along Interstate
10... across parts of the tohono o'odham nation and into western
Pima County through 8 PM MST. Visibilities could be reduced to
less than a quarter mile.

* Timing... through 8pm MST.

* Winds... east or southeast winds at 30 to 40 mph.

* Visibility... less than a quarter mile at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A dust Storm Warning means severely limited visibilities are
expected with blowing dust. Blowing dust can quickly reduce
visibility... causing accidents that may involve chain collisions
and multiple pileups. If dense dust is observed blowing across or
approaching a roadway... pull your vehicle off the pavement as far
as possible to stop. Turn off the lights... set the emergency
brake... and take your foot off of the brake pedal to ensure brake
lights are not illuminated.

Persons with respiratory problems should stay indoors until the
storm passes.
