The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Catoosa County in northwest Georgia
Dade County in northwest Georgia
north central Walker County in northwest Georgia

* until 315 PM EDT

* at 912 am EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
potential flash flooding from thunderstorms with heavy rain passing
over the warned area. Rainfall amounts around 2 inches has occurred
since 800 am EDT along Lookout Mountain. Additional heavy rainfall
is expected.

* Locations in the warning include but are not limited to Ringgold...
Fort Oglethorpe and Lookout Mountain.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway... the water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

northeastern Floyd County in northwest Georgia
western Gordon County in northwest Georgia
Southern Walker County in northwest Georgia

* until 230 PM EDT

* at 836 am EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
potential flash flooding from thunderstorms with heavy rain
passing over the warned area. Rainfall amounts around 2 inches
since 730 am EDT has already occurred along portions of the Taylor
Ridge. Additional heavy rainfall amounts are expected.

* Locations in the warning include but are not limited to Resaca and
Lafayette.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the

... Flood Watch in effect through this evening...

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of central Georgia... east central
Georgia... north central Georgia... northeast Georgia...
northwest Georgia and west central Georgia.

* Through this evening

* National Weather Service radar indicates that two to four inches
of rain... with locally higher amounts... has fallen across
portions of north and central Georgia this morning. Additional
amounts of one to two inches with locally higher amounts are
possible. The heavy rainfall axis will shift to the southwest
across the Metro Atlanta area during the mid to late morning.

* Flooding of the larger creeks and rivers is possible with
additional rainfall.

* Localized flash flooding will be possible if the heavy rain
repeatedly moves over the same area. Also... storm drains...
ditches... and low lying areas may become quickly clogged with
debris and cause extensive street flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor
later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those
living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Polk... Pickens... Paulding... Bartow... Chattooga... Cherokee... Cobb...
Dade... Floyd and Gordon counties until 1100 am EDT...

At 1013 am EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
strong thunderstorms from Cassville to Center Post... moving southeast
at 20 mph.

In addition to the frequent lightning... very heavy rain and gusty
winds to 30 mph can be expected with these storms. Please refer to
the flash flood warnings for the area for information on the rain.
Because the soils are so saturated across the area... it will take
very little wind to knock trees down. Power outages will be possible
if trees fall on power lines.
