... Scattered thunderstorms with locally heavy rain moving into the
area...

scattered showers and thunderstorms... moving east at 25 mph.
These storms extended from the mountains and foothills of

New River valley and Shenandoah Valley... east to the Blue Ridge
and foothills.

Scattered storms should continue over the area for much of the
rest of the afternoon... and perhaps into early evening... some

Runoff from any rain on a nearly saturated ground will result in
rapid runoff... along with associated rises to creeks and streams

If near a waterway... be prepared to move to higher ground if
water levels begin to rapidly rise when storms arrive this
afternoon. Listen to the NWS for additional statements... and for
possible warnings that may be released later today.
