The Flood Warning continues for
the Walker River near Mason.
* From Thursday morning until further notice.
* At 8:15 am Tuesday the stage was 9.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.8 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast. Moderate flooding is possible next
week.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage sometime Thursday and remain
above flood stage into the Memorial Day weekend. The river will
likely rise again next week and may exceed moderate flood stage.
* Impact... minor flooding of lowlands, roads, pasture and farmland
near the river in the Mason Valley-Yerington area. Flood impacts
may become more severe next week.

* until 830 am PDT Tuesday

* periods of rapid snow melt are likely to continue through the
Memorial Day weekend. This will lead to high flows and minor
flooding near unregulated creeks and streams leading out of the
Sierra.

* The greatest risk for flooding will occur through Thursday morning
and again over the Memorial Day weekend from Saturday to Tuesday
may 30th.

* Daily peak flows on small creeks and streams typically occur
during the evening and overnight hours.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Creeks and streams will run fast and very cold, bringing the risk of
hypothermia for those without protective gear. Those with plans to
Camp in the Sierra over the Memorial Day weekend should be prepared
to quickly leave Creek Side campsites. Hikers will want to be
cautious while trying to cross creeks and streams.

northern Mono County in northern California...
Douglas County in western Nevada...
southern Lyon County in west central Nevada...

* until 330 PM PDT Friday

* the west Walker River will approach and likely exceed minor flood
stage during the night between Tuesday and Thursday.

* Warming temperatures will produce increased snowmelt runoff and
high flows in area streams and rivers through late this week.
These increased flows will produce additional minor flooding along
the west Walker River and exacerbate already existing minor
flooding in Antelope Valley and the southern end of the Mason
Valley. The highest flows are likely in the evening and overnight
on the west Walker River.

* Flooding of pastures, rural roads and campgrounds is possible
through the west Walker River canyon. Additional flooding of
agricultural areas in Antelope Valley along the west Walker River
is likely along with high water through Smith Valley and Wilson
Canyon.

* Along the east Walker River minor flooding is expected to continue
from above strosnider ditch to the confluence with the west Walker
River.

... The flood advisory for snowmelt remains in effect until 145 PM PDT
Thursday for alpine and Douglas counties...

* minor flooding impacts will begin in parts of the Carson Valley
late Tuesday and continue through Thursday.

* Warming temperatures will cause increased snowmelt this week. This
increased snowmelt will raise flows in both the East Fork Carson
and West Fork Carson rivers.

* The increased flows will result in minor flooding along portions
of the West Fork Carson below Woodfords and into the Carson
Valley. This flooding will be confined mainly to farm and ranch
lands near the river, but a few rural roads could be impacted.

* Flows are likely to be highest during the overnight hours before
falling during the morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

to 10 PM PDT this evening for Washoe Lake...

* lakes affected: Washoe.

* Winds: west 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 35 mph.

* Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to
capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions
improve.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Check lake conditions before heading out and be prepared for a
sudden increase in winds and wave heights. Consider postponing
boating activities on the lake until a day with less wind.
