southern Appalachians Tuesday morning ushering colder temperatures
and periods of snow showers and flurries. The snow showers will
produce light snowfall across the northern plateau and southwest
Virginia, especially across the higher elevations with up to 1
The breezy conditions and cold Arctic-like temperatures Tuesday
night will produce very low wind chill readings. Wind chills
Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning will drop to zero to 10
degrees above zero across southwest Virginia and 5 to 15 above
zero over the northern plateau and northeast Tennessee.
Be prepared for scattered slick spots due to the snow covered
roadways Tuesday morning across the northern plateau and southwest
Virginia. Use caution while driving. The cold wind chills may
cause frostbite if you are not dressed properly Tuesday night and
Wednesday morning. Make sure kids waiting for the bus to arrive
Wednesday morning are dressed for the cold.
