... Heat advisory in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening...

The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a heat
advisory... which is in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening.

* Temperature... highs will reach the mid 90s over the heat advisory
area... and the humidity will make it feel like 105 to 107 during
the afternoon and evening hours.

* Impacts... increased risk of heat related illnesses if
precautions are not taken.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take extra precautions... if you work or spend time outside. When
possible... reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned
room... stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and
neighbors.

... Oppressive heat index values to continue through Wednesday...

High temperatures in the 90s along with high humidity levels will
lead to oppressive heat over the next few days. Heat index values
will rise into the 100 to 105 degree range each afternoon through
Wednesday.

Please take proper precautions to guard against heat-related
illnesses if outdoors for extended periods of time. Drink plenty
of non-alcoholic fluids and seek shade whenever possible. Never
leave pets or children unattended inside vehicles as interior
temperatures can soar quickly as high as 140 degrees.
Remember... beat the heat... check the backseat.
